How Much Is Too Much?
One thing I've always appreciated about Soma Cacao is that its not like coffee, where you might find yourself consuming cups and cups of it without even noticing and then suddenly your heart is beating and you're totally wired and your colleagues have to tell you to slow down because you're speaking too fast 😅.
Generally, I have one cup in the morning, and I'm totally satisfied. I have little interest in a second cup, or food for that matter, thanks to the appetite suppressing qualities of cacao, and also the fact its so rich in nutrients its a meal in itself 🤩.
Sometimes in the afternoon I'll go for a second, generally more gentle, cup. But it never feels like a necessity, or an addiction.
BUT. Cacao 𝘪𝘴 potent. It does yield a strong physical response in the body, which can be taxing on the adrenals and the kidneys.
So we wanted to offer a few suggestions for all of our bodies to best receive cacao:
✨ Try not to have more than 30g daily, except for the odd occasion you engage in a 'ceremonial dose’ of 45-60g. We don't recommend doing this more than once a week. These amounts are just guidelines, depending on your body type your tolerance may be slightly more, or slightly less.
✨ Drink a cup or two of filtered water before and after your cacao.
✨ Avoid mixing coffee with cacao. If you are still drinking both, we recommend alternating your coffee days with your cacao days.
✨ Mix your cacao with calming herbs and medicinal mushrooms. e.g. lavender, chamomile and ashwaganda, reishi.
✨ don’t add tooooo much sugar/sweetener.
✨ If you have had a larger dose and feel in need of grounding/coming back to earth, opt for cooked root vegetables, brown rice, and avocado. In general, combining stimulants, such as theobromine and caffeine, with fat tempers the stimulating effect, so this can be very supportive to counteract any jitters from cacao (or coffee for that matter).
