HOT Tips for keeping your cacao warm this winter
Cacao is such a yummy wintery beverage but it can sometimes cool down a little too quickly, especially given we always recommend drinking your cacao slowly, savouring the whole experience.
Another challenge is that we always need to be careful not to add boiling hot water directly to the cacao, because this can interfere with the properties of cacao.
So! Here are some of our favourite simple techniques - if you have any others please hit us up... for the sake of us all in these particularly chilly times!!
HOT TIP 1:
Fill your mug with boiling water first. This heats the cup in preparation for your cacao.
(If you pour hot liquid into a cool vessel, that vessel will absorb the heat, pulling it away from the liquid. That’s great if you want your beverage to cool down, but not so awesome if you want it to stay hot).
HOT TIP 2:
Use a milk frother to heat, blend and foam your cacao ALL AT ONCE.

HOT TIP 3:
Prepare your cacao on the stove top instead. This gives you better control over the heat.
You can still use a hand-held blender at the end to make it nice and frothy.
Ideal for preparing cacao for a group.
HOT TIP 4:
Use a thermos.
Once you've made a piping hot cacao, pour it into a thermos, close the lid, and only pour it out a sip or two at a time into your cup.
EXTRA HOT TIP: Combine this tip with HOT TIP 1 - heat up your thermos with boiling water before filling it with cacao.
HOT TIP 5:
Put a lid on it!
By capping your mug, e.g. using a travel cup, you'll keep the heat in and prevent your cacao from cooling off too quickly.
HOT TIP 6:
Google: "Electric coffee mug warmer".
Yep, it's a thing.
HOT TIP 7:
Google: "Portable Immersion Heater".
Also a thing!
